NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Police Department has released new numbers in its recruitment campaign.
According to spokeswoman Remi Braden, the department is holding triple the amount of test dates than before the campaign began.
"We have 83 people scheduled for February testing so far and we will be adding to those numbers as the month goes on," Braden said.
Braden added that Civil Service has received more than 800 applications since late November, and their website http://www.joinNOPD.org has had nearly 25,000 visitors, with about 2,500 people having downloaded the application.
The recruitment campaign began in July 2013. The city had gone more than two years without a recruitment class due to budget limitations.
