NEW ORLEANS -- Nearly 3,000 homes were without power in the Gentilly area, after a vehicle hit some Entergy equipment, according to Entergy's website.

Shorty before 11 a.m., an accident near Elysian Fields Avenue and Interstate-610 appears to be the cause of the outages, and traffic being is restricted on Elysian Fields in that area.  Shortly after 12 p.m., power was restored to most of the residences.

The main portion of power outages were near where Interstate-10 and Interstate I-610 meet.  The outages stretched as far north from the interstate to the Dillard campus, near the intersection of Elysian Fields and Gentilly Boulevard, and extended as far south as North Roman Street in the St. Roch area, according to Entergy.
