METAIRIE, La. – Like a magician, New Orleans Saints cornerback Jabari Greer keeps the tricks of his trade close to the vest.

So you won’t get much information from him about Saturday’s play of the day, a pick-six of quarterback Drew Brees that elicited oohs and aahs from the standing-room only crowd.

“I’m not going to give away my secret formula, but it was something as a cornerback you’re hoping the quarterback throws,” Greer said. “Fortunately he threw it.”

The play came during the third period of 11-on-11 and on the first play.

Brees looked through several options before spotting fullback Jed Collins in the right flats. He zipped the ball in Collins’ direction, but Greer darted in front, catching the ball inches from the fullback’s hands.

He finished the play by sprinting the final 50 or so yards into the end zone.

Ever the competitor, Brees wanted Greer in his crosshairs immediately.

“I know this - that made me angry,” Brees said. “The very next play, (offensive coordinator) Pete (Carmichael Jr.) called a play and I said, ‘Hey, can I call this instead because I want to throw one over the top of Jabari.’
