NEW ORLEANS - A block of Rampart Street, known as one of the most historically important stretches of real estate in the history of jazz, is about to get a boost.

Chef Robert Bruce opened Little Gem Saloon with a menu modeled after what was available in the pre-progressive era in New Orleans.

On Wednesday, Bruce was cooking ox tail stew, molasses pie and deviled eggs remoulade.

Little Gem Saloon will have many live performances in the restaurant downstairs and in the room upstairs starting Friday night.
