NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish Prison inmate that walked off while working a kitchen detail was captured by a Xavier University police officer a short time later.
Shawn Francois reportedly walked off to visit his sick mother. “This morning, while working on a kitchen detail, Shawn Francois, a community service inmate, walked away from the Orleans Parish Security Complex,” said Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff Marlin Gusman in a statement.” “Francois was charged with public drunkenness, disturbing the peace and criminal damage to property. He was serving a 30-day sentence of community service.” While authorities searched the area on foot, in police cruisers and in a helicopter, Francois was captured a short time later by a Xavier University.
