Officer convicted, could get 20 years for fleeing fatal crash

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) — A Jackson County jury has convicted Pascagoula police officer Daniel Snyder of felony fleeing an accident that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old Ocean Springs girl.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1m0s7rU ) the jury deliberated for more than three hours Thursday before returning with a verdict.

Snyder was off-duty on Feb. 22, 2013 when the accident occurred.

Authorities say Katelyn Braun and a friend were walking in a street when she was hit by Snyder's truck.

coulSnyder is facing a sentence of up to 20 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.
