BRIDGE CITY, La. - One man was killed and another was injured in an industrial accident in Bridge City this afternoon.
The second man, who has an unspecified injury, was being taken to University Hospital.
The incident occurred at the Cargill plant in the 930 block of River Road in Bridge City around 4:30 p.m.
Sheriff Newell Normand said the two workers, who were contractors, were servicing an elevator and shaft. In the process a cable snapped, and the elevator landed several feet, killing Jeffery Feucht, 44.
Feucht was pronounced dead on the scene.
Steven Steel, 25, sustained "moderate" injuries and aren't expected to be life threatening.
