A former Plaquemines Parish pastor who had worked as a go-between for parish residents and FEMA following the 2005 hurricanes, was sentenced to 15 years in prison Wednesday.
Reverend Martin Denesse pleaded guilty previously to several drug charges, theft and unauthorized use of a moveable.
Denesse’s sentence included five years for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, five years for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, ten years for theft from the Grace Harbor Christian Ministries ‘trailer fund,’ and five years for unauthorized use of a moveable.
The drug and unauthorized sentences are concurrent, but the theft charge is consecutive. Denesse must also pay $363,000 in restitution.
