The Department of Transportation and Development will still make people pay for their previous Crescent City Connection toll violations, and those toll violation bills have been mailed out to the public.
While Jefferson Parish passed a resolution to stop the tolls collection, DOTD says they will not back down.
The Department cites three laws, one of which was passed this legislative session that requires delinquent toll accounts to be resolved, and the debt to not be forgiven.
The Department of Transportation and Development released a statement saying, “In the past, DOTD encountered technical issues with the violation processing portion of it electronic tolling system. Those issues have been resolved. However, during that time, the system captured images of all violators, but did not process them properly – leaving the fees or tolls unpaid by these violators. These invoices were sent out when the glitch was resolved, which is why some citizens are now receiving notices.”
If you are impacted by this, you can take advantage of the Toll Amnesty Program, which clears you of paying late fees.
The money will be used by the Regional Planning Commission.
