NEW ORLEANS -- A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle while trying to cross the Earhart Expressway, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Around 7 p.m, the 63-year-old man was hit by a SUV on the expressway near Mistletoe Street, police said.
"The driver of a white GMC SUV was traveling westbound on the expressway when the male victim walked into oncoming traffic. The SUV struck the man and carried him feet away from the initial impact," said a statement from the New Orleans Police Department.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene, police said, and the passengers inside of the SUV were not injured.
According to police, the investigation will be referred to the City Attorney’s Office for review. No citations were issued.
