NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans police are investigating a shooting in Algiers that left a man dead, said NOPD spokeswoman Officer Shereese Harper.

The shooting happened just after 2 p.m. near the intersection of Slidell and Wagner streets.

Harper said a 22-year-old man, who had been riding on his bike before the shooting, was found at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police are still working to determine a suspect and a motive in the case.

The shooting happened near a crime camera, but the NOPD has not yet confirmed whether or not it is operational.

If you know anything about this shooting, call Crimestoppers at 822-1111.
