BATON ROUGE, La. – Police are searching for clues to a suspect who allegedly picked up a woman in a taxi in New Orleans and drove her to Baton Rouge before exiting the interstate and forcing her to perform a sex act.
According to Sergeant Don Kelly of the Baton Rouge Police, the 20-year-old victim flagged down a cab in the 500 block of Frenchman Street on Sunday, March 7 at around 3 a.m.
Kelly said the woman requested to be driven to her parents’ home Uptown but was instead driven all the way to Baton Rouge.
The suspect then pulled off the interstate and exited the car before forcing the woman to perform a sex act and then letting her out of the cab.
Kelly said the victim called a friend who brought her to a Baton Rouge police department to report the crime.
The victim describes the suspect as a black male, 30-40 years old, 6’0” tall, 275 lbs., with very short hair and a gap between his crooked front teeth. The vehicle he was driving is an older model large white conversion van with a high roof and the word “Taxi” and a phone number in black lettering on the passenger side. The interior door handles on the passenger side doors were either broken or disabled, preventing her escape.
Anyone with information on the identity of this suspect is urged to contact the Baton Rouge Police Department Sex Crimes Unit at 225-389-3853 or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
