NEW ORLEANS -- A foot chase between police and two men wanted for a possible armed robbery prompted school officials to place St. Augustine High School on lockdown as a precaution, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Third District officers chased the two men, who are believed to be involved an armed robbery in City Park Friday morning, in the vicinity of St. Augustine in Gentilly, according to the NOPD. The two men ran into the block across from the school in the 2600 block of A. P. Tureaud Avenue.
While the men never made to nor entered the school, as a precautionary measure, according to police, officers notified the school of the incident, and school officials put the school on lockdown as K-9 units searched the area.
The incident ended when police apprehended the two men.
