NEW ORLEANS -- An editorial cartoonist who's won two Pulitzers, Walt Handelsman, will soon be returning to Louisiana to join The New Orleans Advocate.
Handlesman left The Times Picayune where he won his first Pulitzer 12 years ago to work for Newsday in New York. He won his second Pulitzer for his animated cartoons there.
Handelsman, who's 56, said he and his family have missed New Orleans.
He’s excited about the chance to return and join The New Orleans Advocate.
“Most importantly it means a chance to return to Louisiana, a chance to return to our friends in New Orleans, a chance for me professionally to work with many of the great journalists I've worked with in the past down there. And of course a chance to see our beloved Saints in person,” he said.
Handelsman said Louisiana is the best spot on the planet for political satire.
