NEW ORLEANS -- Nearly three years after she was convicted on a federal racketeering charge, former City Councilwoman Renee Gill Pratt has been granted yet another reprieve by U.S. District Judge Ivan Lemelle, further delaying the date when she’ll have to report to prison.

Lemelle granted the latest delay to give Gill Pratt’s attorney time to file a motion to throw out her guilty verdict based on the ongoing online commenting scandal in the U.S. Attorney’s office in New Orleans.

After Gill Pratt was convicted in July 2011 of steering public money to charities whose funds she knew would be pilfered by her allies in the Jefferson political family, Lemelle allowed her to remain free on bond while she pursued an appeal.
