ANGOLA, La. -- LSU football legend Billy Cannon was rushed to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after suffering a stroke.
Cannon, 75, was rushed from the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, where he works as a dentist, to a Baton Rouge hospital around 12:30 p.m.
LSU officials say Cannon is alert and resting.
Doctors will conduct tests to determine the extent of the stroke Tuesday evening, and he will remain in ICU.
The family "expressed its thanks for the prayers and concerns of friends and fans," according to a statement from LSU.
