NEW ORLEANS -- State officials are offering a $1,000 reward to anyone with information on the location of an inmate who escaped early New Year's Day.

Keana Barnes, 33, escaped from the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women in St. Gabriel around 1 a.m. Tuesday. She had been in custody since May 2004, when she began serving a 25-year sentence for manslaughter.

Barnes weighs 140 pounds and is 5'4" tall with brown eyes and brown hair. She is considered to be armed and dangeros.

Barnes is from the New Orleans area.

Officials didn't release information on how Barnes escaped from the facility.
