NEW ORLEANS— A SWAT roll Uptown ended peacefully early Sunday morning after a man surrendered to police, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

It happened after 4 a.m. in the 1300 block of Napoleon Avenue.

New Orleans Police Department spokesman Officer Garry Flot said the incident began after officers responded to a disturbance call.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they spoke to a woman outside the home. Police say a person refused to come out of the house, and the officers heard several gunshots.

After more than an hour, 43-year-old Elmer Anweiler exited the home and surrendered to police.

Flot said no one was injured during the standoff.

The suspect is in custody. Police haven't said what charges he'll face.
