NEW ORLEANS -- It's the fourth deadliest cancer in the United States, and Saints punter Thomas Morstead is getting involved to raise more awareness about pancreatic cancer.

He's taking part in an inaugural event called Purple Stride New Orleans, a run/walk for pancreatic cancer.

“Breast cancer, a lot of people have heard about it," Morstead said. "I'm sure everybody has a mom or a friend or somebody that they know of that's been affected by it, but the strides that have been made with breast cancer have been huge in the last 40 years, but with pancreatic cancer, there's actually been no real progress with finding a cure and treatments."

Purple Stride New Orleans is taking place May 19 at City Park.
