NEW ORLEANS -- Before heading back to Oregon State to complete his junior year of college, Saints first-round draft pick Brandin Cooks took the time to sign a four-year deal with the Saints on Sunday.
Cooks’ contract with the Saints carries an option for a fifth year that the team can exercise after the player’s third season.
Cooks was the fifth of six draft picks this year to sign with New Orleans. He is just the third first-round selection in the NFL to sign a contract.
Only California linebacker Khairi Fortt, whom the Saints selected in the fourth round, has yet signed a deal with the team as of Sunday afternoon.
