NEW ORLEANS - One body of a missing worker has been found after an explosion and subsequent fire on an oil production platform. The search is still on for a second missing worker.
The Coast Guard suspended their search on Saturday, but the company that owns the platform has ramped up their search.
They have enlisted the help of the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office to search the beaches. The company hired dive boats and helicopters to search the area around the platform. Search and rescue dogs are also being used.
The fire happened on Friday about 20 miles southeast of Grand Isle.
Four workers remain in the hospital in Baton Rouge with severe burns. Two of them are in critical condition, one is in serious condition and one is in fair condition.
Federal investigators are looking into the exact cause of the explosion.
Part of the explosion was caught on camera seconds after the deadly blast by a group of fisherman. They were being filmed for an episode of Sport Fishing Television when they saw the explosion. The fireball dissipated quickly, but the crew's camera still managed to catch the plume of smoke on the horizon. (Watch the video in this story to see the footage.)
