NEW ORLEANS -- A search and rescue team has suspended for the day the search for the body of a man who has been missing for a week.

NOPD spokesman Officer Garry Flot said EquuSearch suspended operations at about 5 p.m. Wednesday for the search of 42-year-old Jim Dugan. Dugan has been missing since last Tuesday morning.

EquuSearch used sonar equipment Tuesday to pick up an image of what they believe was Dugan's body. It was caught under debris form a pier that collapsed while he was standing on it last week.

“I truly believe that he’s caught up in debris down there,” EquuSearch founder Tim Miller said Tuesday. “It’s really hard to tell because there’s so much stuff that’s just intertwined.”

But on Wednesday, according to EquuSearch, the sonar image was gone, and when diver's went in the river, they found nothing. People from the private search crew are concerned that the body may have floated down river. Officials say they will begin using sonar in other areas as well.
