NEW ORLEANS -- Former Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Jiff Hingle will now have to wait a little longer to learn his punishment for public corruption.
Monday, Federal Judge Sarah Vance moved his June 26 sentencing date to July 3 because of a "conflict with the Court's calendar."
The ex-lawman faces up to five years in prison.
In November 2011, Hingle admitted to accepting tens of thousands of dollars in bribe payments in exchange for lucrative post-Katrina rebuilding contracts.
He pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and bribery in a deal with the government.
