JEFFERSON, La. -- The state's top transportation official says some services on the Crescent City Connection will be cut back or eliminated if tolls roll off the bridge at the end of the year.

DOTD Secretary Sherri Lebas appeared before the Jefferson Parish Council on Wednesday. She said grass cutting and litter pick-up along the 14 miles of highway leading up to the bridge would be less frequent.

She added that things like lighting and landscaping would be cut out all together.

"Our policy is that we do not pay electricity costs for lighting in any of the other areas of the state," Lebas said. "That's picked up by municipalities. If they want the lighting, then they pick up the cost for that lighting."

Louisiana State Police is expected to keep the same level of law enforcment on the CCC, with or without the tolls.
