NEW ORLEANS -- Authorities are looking for a man who tampered with his electronic monitoring bracelet in April.

According to the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office, David Francis, 25, who was originally charged with aggravated burglary, tampered with the bracelet on April 21 around 3 p.m.  The bracelet was found discarded on the West Bank of Jefferson Parish.

"At the time of the incident, the judge overseeing Francis’ case was notified and a warrant was issued for his arrest, however two ranking officers failed to notify senior officials at the Sheriff’s Office in a timely fashion," said a statement from the sheriff's office.

Sheriff Marlin Gusman has started a disciplinary investigation into the late notification of the tampering.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Francis is asked to call the police or the Sheriff’s Office at 504-827-8505.
