JEFFERSON PARISH, La. - Friends, family, and the local cab industry are saying goodbye to a cab driver who was killed on the West Bank last week.

Mourners are paying their final respects to Blake Helmer at the Westside Leitz-Egan Funeral Home in Marrero.

After the funeral, a motorcade of cab drivers will follow a procession to Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Gretna where Helmer will be buried.

Police say veteran cabbie picked up three passengers in Gretna last Tuesday night who shot and killed him. Two suspects, 17-year-old Jonah Brown and 18-year-old Ivory Warren, are facing first-degree murder charges. A third man, 19-year-old Tavon Corley,  is charged as an accessory.
