SLIDELL, La (WWLTV.com) -- Chief Randy Smith has announced that the Slidell Police Department has doubled all Patrol Shifts beginning at 6:00 pm tonight. Plans have been put in place, should there be any need for Search and Rescue Operations after the storm has passed. All personnel have been instructed to report to work at 6:00am on Tuesday morning and be prepared to stay for the duration of the storm. Chief Smith has also activated the Reserve Division to assist with manpower needs. Other units that have been activated are all Detectives in the Criminal Investigations Division, all K-9 Officers and those assigned to the Training and Corrections Division have all been activated.
Chief Smith is requesting that anyone wishing to evacuate to do so now! He is also asking that if you do not need to be on the roads to please stay at home.
