Capping off a week's worth of broadcasts from the city including hours of programming from the special CBS Super Bowl Park at Jackson Square, the network plans more than 9 hours of coverage on Super Bowl Sunday.
Here are some of the highlights and when the shows will be aired on WWL-TV Channel 4.
CBS News Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood – (8 a.m.) Segments will include a profile of Delhi, La., native Tim McGraw, a Bill Geist visit to Avery Island to profile the McIlhenny family and Tabasco, and a Wynton Marsalis “Ode to Gumbo,” for which he interviewed New Orleans' food writer, broadcaster and cooking school teacher Poppy Tooker.
“As much a cultural symbol of New Orleans as the bayou or jazz, gumbo is a mix of seafood and spices - and cultures and ethnicities - making it symbolic of the best of New Orleans,” says CBS in its press release.
Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer – (9:30 a.m.) – Bob Schieffer will interview NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. The program will also feature CBS Sports hosts Jim Nantz, Phil Simms and Shannon Sharpe.
Road to the Super Bowl – (10 a.m.)
New Orleans: Let the Good Times Roll – (11 a.m.) A tribute to the city, hosted by Wynton Marsalis.
Phil Simms All-Iron Team: Super Bowl Edition – (Noon)
The Super Bowl Today – (1 p.m.) The pregame countdown will originate from locations at CBS Super Bowl Park in Jackson Square, Champions Square and the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Several New Orleans-themed segments will be featured, as well as an interview with President Obama by CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley, airing at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Kickoff for Super Bowl XLVII is 5:30 p.m.
Eyewitness News at 10 p.m. will feature live local post-game coverage.
The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (following Eyewitness News at 10:35 p.m.) – The show will include guests Drew Brees, Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Julie Chen, Neil Patrick Harris, as well as segments recorded at spots across the city.
