LAPLACE, La. - St. John Parish Office of emergency preparedness has called for all schools in the parish to close Tuesday.
Officials say there is high water and impassable road conditions throughout the parish.
St. John Parish Schools Superintendent Dr. Courtney millet says schools will be closed for all students and employees today.
All Catholic elementary and high schools are closed as well due to flooding and inclement weather, according to the Archdiocese, including Ascension of Our Lord, Our Lady of Grace, St. Joan of Arc and St. Peter elementary schools and St. Charles Catholic High School.
Ben Franklin High School and Akili Academy in New Orleans are closed due to a power outage.
