Leeville, La. - Louisiana State Police have arrested two soldiers after a high speed motorcycle chase near Fort Polk, just outside of Leeville, on Friday afternoon.
State Police say just before 1 p.m. a trooper clocked two motorcycles traveling at high speeds on LA Highway 8. When the trooper attempted a traffic stop, the two cyclists took off at speeds over 140 mph. The motorcycles then split up. One continued east on LA 8, towards Port Folk. The other exited onto La Highway 184. The trooper continued pursuing the cyclist on LA 8.
During the pursuit the trooper realized the motorcycles were headed for Fort Polk. He notified the base, which closed its gates. The trooper also notified local police to pursue the second motorcycle.
The trooper was able to arrest 20-year-old Nathaniel Sanders, of Fort Polk, La, at the front gate to Fort Polk. Local law enforcement apprehended 23-year-old Carlton Jamison, of Honolulu, Hi, at a different entrance gate on LA 184.
State Police say both Sanders and Jamison are currently stationed at Fort Polk. Both soldiers are charged with flight from an officer and speeding. Both were booked into the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office.
