New Orleans – A suspect wanted by New Orleans police in connection with the shooting death of Anthony Barre, known as Messy Mya, was apprehended by Jefferson Parish sheriff deputies early Saturday, according to Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman Col. John Fortunato.
Friday, members of the New Orleans Police Department had issued an arrest warrant for 24-year-old Jason Hamilton wanted in connection with the murder of Barre, the comedian and YouTube video performer known as Messy Mya.
Hamilton was taken into custody without incident and booked into the JPCC as a fugitive from New Orleans, according to Fortunato.
Mya was killed last Sunday in the 2000 block of N. Rocheblave.
During the course of the investigation, Homicide Detective Kevin Burns positively identified Jason Hamilton as the person responsible for the murder and secured an arrest warrant for second-degree murder.
