NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans police nabbed two armed robbery suspects Uptown last night, shortly after a gas station was hit.
The robbery happened at a gas station in the 1400 block of S. Carrollton just after 10:30 p.m.
The victims say one of two men pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money and then took a customer's iPhone.
Two detectives found two men -- 20-year-old Javine Bonner and 18-year-old Eugene Thomas -- fitting the suspects' descriptions on Monroe Street. Officers recovered the stolen iPhone and cash from the register after a search of Bonner and Thomas, and Bonner amitted to hiding the gun on the side of a home.
Police booked both Bonner and Thomas with armed robbery charges.
Police say both men have previous arrests for armed robbery. Bonner is currently on parole for a first-degree robbery, something police NOPD Superintendent Ronal Serpas says is "disturbing they weren't discouraged from doing it again."
