The following is a press release from Terrebonne Parish on the parish's preparations for Hurricane Ida.

Over thirty local emergency responders from agencies spanning the parish gathered at the Office of Emergency Preparedness at 2:00p.m. on Sunday afternoon to participate in a conference callwith the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness in preparation of Hurricane Ida.

The call included a report from the National Weather Service which indicated that locally we may expect to receive 3-5 inches of rain and a 3-5 foot storm surge with conditions deteriorating at mid-day tomorrow.

Due to the 3 p.m. National Hurricane Center Advisory indicating the storm was on a more easterly track, the Terrebonne Parish Schools WILL BE OPEN on Monday November 9, 2009- any change will be updated as soon as the information becomes available.

Due to the possibility of flooding in the low-lying areas of the parish, sand and sand bags will be available at the following locations: Montegut Fire Station, main Little Caillou Fire Station, Pointe Aux Chenes Fire Station, Bobtown Bridge Fire Station, and the former location of the fire station in Bayou Dularge near the Falgout Canal Bridge.

As of 5:00 pm on Sunday November 8, 2009 no state of emergency was issued in Terrebonne Parish but TPCG Administration continues to closely monitor the track of the storm.

Any Questions should be directed to the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness at 985-873-6357.
