Get Out of My Head
Have you been singing “Joe Cao, Joe Cao” inside your head all day? No? Well, I guess that makes you pretty normal.
Just don't click on this link, because Jeff Horwich has an appropriately western tune based on the straight-shootin’ congressman that will get stuck in your head longer than you'd like.
Horwich writes and performs the song, which comes after Cao’s vote in favor of the health-care vote in the House last week.
“Who’s in the limelight suddenly?
Joe Cao, Joe Cao
The loneliest man in the GOP?
Joe Cao, Joe Cao
Was he reckless, we he braver, to cast his vote in favor? Did he ever waver?
Joe Cao”
Cao: Obama Administration ‘Tremendous’ On Katrina Recovery Effort
“You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.”
That’s essentially what Congressman Joseph Cao told President Barack Obama before his vote in favor of the health-care bill this week. He said a factor in his vote was that Obama promised to work with him on forgiving community disaster loans.
Well, apparently Cao is still scratching away, as evidenced by him telling the Washington Times the Obama administration has been “tremendous” for the second congressional district that he represents.
A real stickler? He came to Obama’s defense only after his interviewer questioned the president’s trip to New Orleans by saying “he didn’t even stick around very long during his trip.”
“Well, I just want to set the record straight, that even though the president only visited New Orleans once since his election, it was a brief stay, but this administration has been tremendous for the people of the 2nd district.”
A bold gesture for Cao to stand to the president’s defense yet again, considering the criticism he already faces for voting for the bill in the first place.
Time: 10 Best College Presidents
Time Magazine has named Tulane University President Scott Cowen as one of the top 10 college presidents in the country.
Time praises Cowen for his work in bringing the school back after Hurricane Katrina and gives special attention to some of the work he’s done to revive the city.
“While the Crescent City's three other universities (Xavier, Dillard and Loyola) showed equal resilience, it is Tulane president Scott Cowen who has emerged as both a deft academic leader and a committed civic booster,” writes Time Magazine.
“In addition to helping reconfigure the city's devastated K-12 public schools, Cowen has given the university a sense of renewed vigor.”
WSJ: Cage's Real Estate Empire Shrinks
The auction for Nicolas Cage’s home finally went through, as the Wall Street Journal and about 10,000 celebrity blog sites reported Thursday.
The huge, 13,000 square-foot French Colonial property on Prytania wasn’t snatched up by another millionaire celebrity, though; Regions Bank placed the winning bid on his foreclosed home.
The home sold for $2.3 million after a list price of $3.55 million
It’s proof that not even Cage, who starred in Werner Herzog’s “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans” that was shot in New Orleans and is set to be released later this year, was sheltered from the recession. He was unable to pay over $150,000 in unpaid city taxes.
Fox: Actress Mendes has harsh words on Katrina recovery
Eva Mendes, who stars alongside Cage in “Bad Lieutenant,” had some harsh words in a Fox News interview for the way the government has handled the recovery from Hurricane Katrina.
“It was exciting because we brought business there, but it was pretty devastating,” Mendes told Fox News of her role in the “Bad Lieutenant.” “I was in shock at some parts, I hadn’t been there ever so I was still in shock that this happened in our country. I felt we were somewhere else in certain areas. Our government failed this; you can see they failed this. It was pretty intense.”
You can find that soundbite buried beneath a “duh” account of Mendes saying she uses her sexuality in her movie roles. You know, like in “Bad Lieutenant,” where she plays a prostitute who is Cage’s love interest.
Just a question: Who would pay to see her play a role like that if she didn’t use her sexuality?
