THIBODAUX, La. -- A 22-year-old confessed to stealing a Thibodaux government truck, which was found severely damaged and crashed in a ditch off La. 307 near Raceland, police said.

The city’s Parks and Recreation Department truck was found Dec. 24, Thibodaux Police said.

Police later identified Chase Ordoyne, 22, 176 Rodrigue St., Kraemer, as a suspect. He was already in the Lafourche Parish jail after being arrested Monday and booked with a separate vehicle theft, police said.

Ordoyne confessed when they talked to him, the police department said in a news release. He was arrested Wednesday.

Ordoyne is now charged with a second theft of a motor vehicle charge as well as felony criminal damage to property. He remains in the Lafourche Parish jail in lieu of bonds totaling $47,000, records show.
