VACHERIE, La. – State Police are investigating a fatal head-on collision that claimed the life of a Thibodaux man, according to State Police spokesman Trooper Evan Harrell.
Around 3:30 p.m., Tommy Thibodaux, 24, of Thibodaux, crossed the center line on LA 20 in St. James Parish and hit a pickup truck driven by Gerald Torres, 61, of Vacherie, according to State Police.
Police say Thibodaux wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, and he was pronounced dead on the scene. Torres was flown to a New Orleans hospital with moderate injuries.
Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, according to police, toxicology tests are pending for Thibodaux.
