Two escaped inmates arrested in New Orleans, third still missing

NEW ORLEANS– Two of the three inmates who escaped from the LaSalle Correctional facility were apprehended Saturday night in Orleans Parish, according to officials with the LaSalle Sheriff’s Office.

 Officials say 21-year-old William Mitchell of Des Allemands and 31-year-old Jeffery Cruz of Harvey, were apprehended in New Orleans by U.S. Marshalls. The vehicle they used in their escape was also recovered at that time.

 The third inmate, 23-year-old Gregory Savioy of Metairie, is still missing.

 The three men were discovered to be missing about 5:30 a.m. Saturday. Two of the escapees are from Jefferson Parish and the third is from St. Charles Parish, and authorities were concerned that they could be headed south.

 Officials ask anyone who knows of Gregory Savioy's whereabouts to call 911.
