Report: Times-Picayune employees to learn scope of staff cuts next week

NEW ORLEANS -- Next week, Times-Picayune workers will learn if they have lost their jobs or be given new positions at the paper, according to Gambit Weekly.

The Times-Picayune announced last week it will publish a paper only three day a week and downsize its staff.

Some staff will be offered severance packages, but those who receive an offer to stay on will likely have to re-apply.

Sources say a number of new people may be hired to contribute content in sports and entertainment.
