NEW ORLEANS -- Loyola University announced its commencement speaker Thursday for its upcoming spring graduation.

Tom Brokaw, the veteran NBC News reporter and anchor, will be the principal speaker at ceremonies being held in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in May.

Brokaw has won acclaim for The Greatest Generation, his book about the Americans who fought in World War II.

He will receive an honorary doctorate during the morning ceremony.
