PONCHATOULA, La. – Authorities in Ponchatoula are investigating a situation after two elementary school principals received threatening letters.

Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson said the letters were vague and not directed to anyone in particular.

They also say they were very similar in nature and are believed to be from the same person.

Layrisson said officers will be present at the two schools -- the Perrin Early Learning Center and Tucker Elementary School -- for the remainder of the week.

The letters have been collected and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for processing.
