JEFFERSON PARISH, La. – According to Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office deputies, a 72-year-old woman got the better of an alleged home invader more than half her age in home in the 1000 block of Cleary Avenue in Metairie.

Investigators said the woman's 48-year-old son entered the garage 6:30 a.m. and was immediately confronted by a masked man carrying a crowbar. The two men got into a fight, and then the older woman jumped in and helped subdue the suspect.

“According to the medical personnel at University Hospital, the suspect actually sustained more injuries than both the victim and his 72-year-old mother, although she did have some cuts and scrapes,” said JPSO spokesman Col. John Fortunato.

The JPSO arrested the suspect, Troy Derosa, 30, of Covington. The JPSO didn’t release the name of the victim or his mother.
