PLAQUEMINES, La. -- A 43-year-old woman has died after a single-vehicle accident that may have been caused by an impaired driver, according to police.
The crash happened at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday in Plaquemines Parish on La. 23 approaching La. 11.
Louisiana State Police say the vehicle, for unknown reasons, traveled off the road and overturned. The three people in the car were ejected from the vehicle, and 43-year-old Wynette Williamson died from her injuries.
The driver, 21-year-old Jeremy Williamson, and 23-year-old James Brown Jr. were transported to the hospital with "moderate injuries," according to Louisiana State Police.
Officials say speed and driver impairment are suspected factors in the crash. Police haven't released any information on criminal charges, but a toxicology result is pending.
