RESERVE, La. - Deputies in St. John the Baptist Parish are searching for information after the body of a man was found near the train tracks near East 16th Street Saturday morning.
Deputies said a resident of the street saw the man lying, unresponsive, on the ground and notified the sheriff's office.
The victim was later identified as Meshach Mason,19, according to the sheriff's office. Mason was originally from Kenner but had recently moved to Reserve.
A news release by the office said Mason was the victim of an apparent homicide, though it did not specify how the man died.
It would be the 13th homicide in the parish this year.
Investigators are trying to identify the victim. He is described as a young black man who was wearing a black shirt and khaki pants.
