WASHINGTON PARISH, La. – The cause of the gas pipeline explosion that nearly leveled a 300-foot radius of land is still undetermined, according to a Friday report from the company who owns the pipeline.
The fire marshal’s office said someone in the area of the explosion did go to the hospital later in the day of the Tuesday incident complaining of chest pains, but there is no known connection. Someone else who lived in the area also went to the hospital the next day, for an unknown issue, but was released the same day.
Florida Gas reported that the pipe had to be shipped off for inspection. They are hoping for an answer by the end of next week or the beginning of the week after.
The gas line blast is Louisiana's third petro-chemical related explosion and fire in less than a week.
