The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting of two men, one of which died, in Marrero early Tuesday morning.

According to Sheriff Newell Normand, around 1:45 a.m. JPSO received a call from a woman who said her nephew had been shot in the 5900 block of Becker Street.

When officers arrived, they found a 20-year-old man shot twice, once in the upper body and once in the lower body. Police say the victim was inside of the home prior to being shot.

A 21-year-old man, later identified as Deshon Evans, of Marrero, was also shot multiple times at the same location. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators believe there were multiple shooters because of evidence found at the scene.

The 20-year-old is currently in surgery, and at this time, his condition is unknown.

There are currently no suspects or motives in the case. JPSO asks that anyone with information on this double shooting call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
