NEW ORLEANS -- A 55-year-old man is behind bars on allegations that he committed attempted second-degree murder.

The shooting happened Saturday in the 2200 block of St. Andrew Street at about 8:25 a.m.

NOPD spokesman Officer Garry Flot said Freddie Johnson, 55, allegedly shot the victim in the chest with a shotgun that he had hidden in a trash can in the street.

Police haven't given a motive for the crime. The victim hasn't been identified.

Johnson faces an attempted second-degree murder charge.
