NEW ORLEANS – The Archdiocese is fighting the “New Battle of New Orleans” with 5,000 yard signs that read “Though shalt not kill – God.”

Archbishop Gregory Aymond hopes the signs will reduce violence, murder and racism.

“I want area Catholics and non-Catholics who wish to join us to be able to proudly display the signs and in doing so, tell their neighbors, we are a people of peace, we do not accept or want violence in our neighborhoods,” he said.

Three large signs will also be displayed at 1000 Howard Ave., near the corner of Carrollton Avenue and Walmsley and at St. Louis Cathedral.

The yard signs will be delivered to the parishes the week of October 15 and made available to parishioners at no charge.

Depending on demand, the archdiocese may make more available for order.
