NEW ORLEANS – Bar patrons wrestled a pistol away from a customer who threatened to kill the bartender Saturday afternoon on Chartres Street, according to the NOPD.
A police spokesman said the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. at 141 Chartres Street.
According to the police, the suspect, identified as 63-year-old Michael McClendon, ordered a beer and the bartender brought it to the customer and asked for payment. The customer refused to pay and was asked to leave, at which time he drew a gun and said he wanted to kill the bartender.
Police said the bar patrons wrestled the gun from McClendon, who then drew a knife.
Officers responding to the scene arrested him.
