NEW ORLEANS -- Crimestoppers increased the rewards in two high-profile murders. Brandon Adams, 15, and his girlfriend, Christine Marcelin, 15, were murdered days apart in April.
The rewards have been raised to $7,500 leading to arrests in either murder case.
On Apr. 27, Adams was gunned down walking home from a playground. Three days later, Marcelin's body was found in eastern New Orleans. She had been shot.
Adams, an honor student at KIPP Believe College Prep, was shot and killed, and his brother was wounded as they were walking along a stretch of road in the Desire neighborhood.
Police believe Adams and his brother were walking on Higgins Boulevard to get back home when two masked men on foot fired at them. Neighbors said they heard more than a dozen shots.
Marcelin, an eighth-grade student at KIPP Believe, was found in a secluded area of New Orleans East, in the 5000 block of Alcee Fortier Boulevard in the Village D'Lest subdivision.
