JEFFERSON, La. -- Jefferson Parish deputies are investigating a homicide at the Mothe Funeral Home Tuesday night in Harvey.

Deputies say a man's badly decomposed body was found in one of the on-site apartments around 3:50 p.m. in the 2100 block of the Westbank Expressway near Manhattan Boulevard.

The owners of the funeral home thought the 61-year-old man went missing during the storm, and while investigators initially thought he died from natural cases, it was found he had multiple stab wounds to the chest.

The victim, who was a caretaker at Mothe Funeral Home and lived on site, was not identified.

Officials say the victim hadn't been seen or head from since nearly a week ago.

No word on a possible suspect or motive.

If you know anything that can help investigators, call Crimestoppers at 822-1111.
